The Diocesan Commission for Schools and Colleges exists to assist the Church in the Diocese in its education mission by providing a network of schools and helping them to be effective in the delivery of Catholic education.

It does this by:

  • assisting the Trustees in the formation of education policy and its implementation;
  • administering the appointment of foundation governors in Diocesan schools;
  • on behalf of the Archbishop, advising schoools and colleges on religious education;
  • representing schools to the Catholic Education Service, the LEAs and the DfES; providing advice and training for governors, teachers and priests on a wide range of educational issues.
